Respond to Ruddiman Article
While reading the Ruddiman article, I had a feeling of understand of where he was coming from with the concept of global warming started with farming. With all my different Earth science course I have taken in that past few years. I have come to have a greater appreciation for the Earth as living object and not just something we use for our own gain. What Ruddiman is talking about farming being the start of global warming is a little out there, but the basic concept is very true. When humans started farming they had to clear out a forests or prairies which are not just cutting down some trees or grass it is completely altering the ecosystem in it entire. The study of ecology is such a relatively new science is very hard to understand exactly what is happening with our environment. In the essay, The Land Ethic, by Aldo Leopold writes that, “The ordinary citizen today assumes that science knows what makes the community clock tick; the scientist is equally sure that he does not.” Ruddiman is making his observations in which a scientist is supposed and trying to understand what is going on in our community
