Let's Learn About Coal!

The front group, "Friends of Coal" (FOP), has come out with a coloring book for children to inform and educate them about the coal industry! Some of the puzzles included in this coloring book include an unscrambling game where children have to figure out the advantages of coal (such as how coal is cheaper than other fuels, why coal is important, and how coal creates jobs!)

To check out the different coloring books (and maybe to print some out if you're student teaching!) check out the "Let's Learn About Coal" coloring book!

  1. I'd hardly call this coloring book educational. This looks more like a ploy to brainwash children into believing coal is better than it actually is. I had to laugh when they said that coal is "cleaned" before use, and depicted this by someone scrubbing the coal with a rag.

And then they said once coal is extracted, the surface is covered by soil and the area is re-planted. I don't recall seeing any of that in that video we watched in class last week, after they blew off the top of the mountains to take out the coal.
