Even though Chrysler promised that their $12.5 million in bailout money would go towards production of energy-efficient running cars, it seems that this isn't completely true anymore. The new CEO of Chrysler seems to be quite skeptical of electric powered vehicles, so the so-called "new Chrysler" will now only produce half a million fewer electric vehicles than promised by 2014. I don't understand how the CEO can be so skeptical of electric cars, while other huge companies including GM, Honda, and Toyota are all capitalizing on hybrid electric run vehicles.
Here are a couple of articles that go into a bit more detail:

That is really unfortunate that they are turning away from electric cars. Especially since they are an American company and it would be nice to see more American car companies advocating to switch to the electric option. I am excited about the Chevy Volt that is coming out soon, which is supposed to be promising and energy efficient. I am hopeful that Chrysler will change their mind after companies like Chevy produce their vehicles. Maybe they will see how the American people react as consumers to the new energy efficient cars. After all, to the companies, it is all about profit in the end..which is sad, but if it causes them to produce more energy efficient cars I won't object.
