AIRPLANES, everyone rides them, they're kind of a necessity, but on the other hand they're the worst carbon producers that the average Joe partakes in. I find it interesting that we did actually talk about this subject in class, just just one trip for example, over to Copenhagen would completely erase everything one did to reduce carbon that year. And here's the conundrum, flying is really the only practical way to go long distances.
there's a nice article I found on BBC, explaining this dilemma of flying in relevance to British holidays, which is British slang for a long vacation: check out the article here

Coming from a foreign country, I completely understand this dilemma. Apart from vacationing, there are some really important reasons why people need to fly, like for providing relief to foreign countries, for business, for school, even for health care. It's really sad that flying is so damaging to our environment yet I feel like it's sometimes completely unavoidable. You could say it almost makes it impossible to live a carbon-neutral life. I suppose we can only hope that somehow planes can be developed that run on renewable energy, but until then we may just have to settle for cutting down on going on long trips and taking more vacations close to home...
